How Google Voice Works - Auto Dialing

In this article you will learn how Google Voice works. Google Voice is a toll free number that is hosted by Google. A new phone number is added to Google Voice and a caller can use this number to sign up for their service and get a number of great additional features, such as voicemail, auto attendant, call recording, conference call, and so forth. Once an account is created with Google Voice, a person may use any phone for making calls to this number.

How does Google Voice work? There are basically two ways to utilize Google VoIP services-on-demand and on-premise. The biggest difference between these two methods is the way in which you pay. The on-demand approach is the most popular, mainly because it is easier to implement than the on-premise approach, and is actually more suitable for small business owners who don't need to use their own phones for making phone calls.

How does it work? The setup process is pretty simple. You will need to have two to three lines opened with Google Voice. One line should already be set up with your voice mail account; if not you should create a new account with Google Voice. If your business uses traditional phones you should have a voicemail box on your office desk. This is where your messages will go if you switch phones or if you make multiple calls at once.

To use your Google Voice plan, you simply add numbers to your phone list and then start making calls. You will need to have an active subscription with Google Voice, so you should try to purchase your service from Google if you aren't already, unless you are going to offer voice services via your website. Google Voice also offers free phone calls to some people; check if you qualify by calling Google and asking if you can get this special offer. (This is an excellent way to save on international, long distance charges.)

In order to really take advantage of how Google Voice works, you will need to learn how you can get one phone number for all your business or personal lines. There are different ways that you can do this, but in general you will need to associate each line with just one number. For example, if you have three lines for your business, try adding three separate numbers to Google Voice to be able to use the feature. This means that all your incoming and outgoing calls will come from just one number, which can save you time and even reduce the cost of your monthly phone bills.

It's also possible for you to switch over to the voice mail system after your phone service expires. If you decide to do this, though, make sure you inform your cell phone carrier so they can change your voice mail number. Then, every time you receive a call from someone, simply call back to let them know who you are and to confirm that you want to speak with them. Google Voice will redirect all calls to your cell phone switchboard operator, so it won't matter whether the caller doesn't leave a message.

Of course, there are other steps you will have to take to make full use of how Google Voice works. First off, you must download the free Google Voice app from the Google Android Market. Once you've installed the app, you'll have access to three auto dialed numbers - one for each line of your business or personal phone. You can assign each one a different area code, or you can connect all your lines to one auto dialer to receive all incoming calls. If you already have an existing account with your Google VoIP provider, the app will automatically connect your existing line to your Google Voice number, thus allowing you to receive incoming calls regardless of where the caller is calling from.

If you're a new user of Google Voice, you won't be able to start making calls right away - you first need to setup an account. The process is quite simple - just log into your Google Android app store and tap the "Create Account" link located on the upper right-hand corner of the page. On the next screen, you'll see the option to type in your existing phone number or choose a new phone number. When you have completed signing up, you will then be guided through the process of adding a few phone numbers and then selecting an area code before hitting "Sign Up."
